Martial Arts for 3-5 years - Kung Fu Cubs

Kung Fu Cubs for young children from 3 to 5 years

Physical and character skills through adapted martial art.

Welcome to our Kung Fu Cubs program designed specifically for young children from 3 to 5 years old to develop their physical skills and character education skills through adapted martial art. Our solution is simple, take over two decades of teaching martial arts on a full-time basis (that’s important, we are fulltime professional martial artists, not someone else doing on a part-time basis as a hobby.). Take the fact that we have worked in local schools in Dudley and Sandwell for years, delivering lessons and after school clubs and all of our team is Seal registered (Seal is Dudley MBC required Sports Leaders standard and a requirement of working in Dudley Schools) which covers, DBS checks, First aid, Child protection, qualifications, insurance etc. Add in professional childcare skills to the martial art skills and teach a program that matches martial art development to the current EYFS (Early Learning Foundation Stage).

Parent's Feedback

“My son started martial art classes at the age of 4 as a shy little boy. It was important to me as a parent that whatever activity we pursued supported his confidence and his development." "He was shy and nervous on his first day and needed a lot of encouragement to join in, but the friendly and animated way the instructors were with him helped him to settle after a few classes." "His physical development came on leaps and bounds but more importantly to me so did his social skills. " "He was described in his recent school report as a confident and popular young man who was very respectful and eager to learn. I can’t give enough credit to his martial art practice for that. I’m so proud.”

Having discipline means using self control and being able to use focus and pay attention. It’s about knowing right from wrong and ensuring their own actions support those beliefs. Self discipline helps children to thrive both in and out of school.

How will the classes support my child’s development?

Children should be involved in activities that support learning through play, they learn best in a fun and friendly environment. The program is developed to support the Early Years Foundation Stage document which are the government guidelines used in nurseries and primary schools.

What will my child learn?

Our program is based around the eight physical Skillz: Rolling, Hopping, Catching, Crawling, Running, Blocking, Kicking and Punching. These skills are important for the physical development of children and support a foundation for future martial arts, however while practicing these in class they’ll also develop the following important skills: Confidence, Resilience, Fitness, Respect, Discipline, Listening and Attention. These are the foundations needed to help children become effective learners in school and good people in life, what we call having a black belt attitude.

Meet The Kung Fu Cubs:

Eight animals represent eight skills in our program drawn from many martial art backgrounds and traditional styles:
  • The Dragon - Kicking
  • The Tiger - Punching
  • The Snake - Blocking
  • The Bear - Crawling
  • The Leopard - Running
  • The Crane - Hopping
  • The Monkey - Rolling
  • The Wolf - Catching
