Two MMA fighters from the MAC academies in Stourbridge and Halesowen both won their fights at a Mixed Martial Art tournament held in Stourbridge on Saturday 6th December.
The venue for the “Combat Challenge” event was the Arena nightclub Stourbridge with fighters from all over the U.K. coming to take part, the bouts were a mixture of kickboxing and amateur MMA matches.
First to fight on the night for MAC was Bobby Mason fighting MMA under 3 x 3 min rounds following an exciting first round of action Bobby secured a win by stoppage following a ground and pound exchange. This was Bobby’s first fight and a good start to his fight record.
Second to fight for MAC was Nick Probert this was Nick’s second MMA fight having fought his first fight earlier this year again this was to be a 3 x 3min contest. Nick stopped his opponent in the first round with another display of ground and pound.
MAC Chief Instructor Paul Kelly and his team of experienced coaches and instructors coached both fighters. MAC has three, full time local academies and has been established in the Black Country for nearly 20 years.
MMA is the fastest growing combat sport in the UK following on from the success of the UFC in the USA and growth of well rounded martial athletes wishing to develop an all round fighting style. Many consider Bruce Lee to be the originator of MMA and attribute its growth to his personal view of combat.
Combat Challenge will return to Stourbridge in February 2016.
