Get a Blackbelt in Martial Arts
Excellence and Achievement
The systematic use of belt color to denote rank was first used by Kano Jigoro, the founder of Judo, who devised the belt system using obi, and awarded the first Black Belts to denote a Dan rank in the 1880s. Initially the wide obi was used; as practitioners trained in kimono. But it was not until the early 1900s, after the introduction of the Judogi, that an expanded colored belt system of awarding rank was created.
Since that time the term “Black Belt” has come to represented an image of excellence and achievement, both physically and mentally, and indeed a challenge that can only be achieved by the elite few. Whilst this is still true today the journey through the coloured belts on the way to Martial Art Concept’s Black Belt have now adapted to create a structured learning and testing environment that enables practically anyone to achieve the goal of Black Belt.
